Family papers, ca. 1859-1945 ; bulk 1859-1874.

Papers and correspondence relating to the Samuel E. DeCamp family of Walpole, Ind. and Somerville, Ohio. Seven letters written between DeCamp and his family describe his Civil War service. One letter from 1864 tells of the condition of refugees from Atlanta moving into Tennessee. The remaining family correspondence is of a general nature and correspondents are from the DeCamp, Patterson and Storms families. There is an 1860 Sons of Temperance, Somerville Division, pamphlet, and an 1866 veteran's medal from the Grand Army of the Republic.

The 75th Indiana Infantry Regiment was mustered in at Wabash, Ind., in August 1862. During the Civil War it saw duty in Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, and North Carolina.
